Enterprise AI, inside the organization's own walls

Running AI on-premises requires more than installing a model on a server. This article outlines what NU Tech delivers when AxP runs within an organization's own data center: the complete platform, operation without external connectivity, integration with existing IT, controlled updates and joint operation after go-live.

In most enterprises, the decisive discussions about on-premises AI take place with security, IT operations and facilities teams. Their requirements are specific: whether the system connects to external services, whether it enforces existing access rights, how it is updated, and who is responsible for its operation.

These requirements determine whether an on-premises AI system reaches production. They are also the focus of NU Tech’s work with each customer. A model that performs well in a demonstration is only the starting point; the objective is a system that operates reliably, every day, within the organization’s own infrastructure.

The complete platform

An on-premises deployment of AxP, the AI Transformation (AX) Platform, places the entire system within the organization’s data center:

  • Dudl, the Enterprise Knowledge Engine, consolidates documents and records into a single connected knowledge base.
  • N-Sight, the Agentic Decision Engine, runs AI agents on that knowledge in accordance with the organization’s rules.
  • The models, selected for each workload, run on the organization’s own servers.

No component depends on an external cloud service.

Operation without external connectivity

For the most restricted environments, AxP operates fully air-gapped, with no connection to the internet. The same platform is also available on-premises with controlled connections, or in a hybrid configuration in which sensitive workloads remain local. Each organization selects the model that meets its requirements, without changes to the platform.

Integration with existing IT

An on-premises AI system should operate within the organization’s existing controls rather than introduce new ones.

How AxP integrates
Authentication The organization’s existing directory and single sign-on
Access rights Existing document permissions are enforced, so users receive answers only from records they are authorized to access
Security monitoring Events are forwarded to the organization’s existing security tools
Data Remains in its current systems; the platform reads it in place

Controlled updates

Isolated environments still require new models and software. In AxP, each update is delivered as a signed package, verified before installation and validated against past cases: the new version re-runs earlier decisions, and any change in outcome is reviewed before release. The previous version is retained, so a rollback can be completed quickly.

A complete decision record

Every decision made in AxP is recorded as it occurs, together with its evidence, the rules applied and the reviewer’s action. An on-premises deployment is therefore auditable from the first day. (What a decision record contains.)

Joint operation after go-live

NU Tech agrees with each customer a clear division of responsibility for hardware, platform, models and day-to-day operation. Spare capacity is planned from the outset, and support processes are designed for secure sites, where external access is restricted and on-site visits are arranged in advance.

Deployment approach

  1. Assess. Define the workload: case types, volumes, response times and applicable rules. Security, IT and facilities teams are involved from the first week.
  2. Install. Deploy AxP on the organization’s infrastructure: on-premises, hybrid or air-gapped.
  3. Connect. Link Dudl to existing document stores and records under their current permissions.
  4. Validate. Run agents on historical cases alongside the current process and compare results.
  5. Go live. Reviewers approve and correct outcomes; every decision is recorded, and the system improves from their corrections.

Outcome

The result is AI that works on an organization’s most valuable data while that data remains within its own infrastructure. This is the standard NU Tech builds to.
